Student Cookery Is Home

Student Cookery Is Home!

...and ready to rock! (or cook, actually much more likely to cook, I can't rock... I do have a geologist friend, maybe he could teach me...)

Anyway so I moved into the new house in Plymouth (who's SU is now sporting 2 pint glasses!) WHOOP!

Here's a few snaps of the fabulous kitchen, christened today with a very splendid macaroni cheese! This was partly because I love maccaroni cheese, partly because it doesn't take long and partly because all I could nick from my home was a packet of maccaroni and some cheese...

...had to pop to co-op for milk, butter and flour. There were however some delicious bacon bits (who doesn't like bacon bits in maccaroni cheese?...who ever you are, go away. Only joking you can stay but only if you stay quiet).

Anyway if you don't know how to make maccaroni cheese then here's a great simple recipe you can remember easily! And for you cheap skates out there (like me!) it costs about £1 for at least 2 meals even if you are a fat b******!

Chop an onion, fry in some oil until almost see-through, whack in some bacon, fry. Put this to one side. Now through a tablespoon of butter, half a pint of milk and two tablespoons of flour in a pan. It's a good idea to wait until the butter has melted and keep stirring to avoid lumpiness! No one likes lumpy sauce! (If you do then just ignore this recipe and through ingredients randomly into several pots or pans, fry, boil, saute, poach and sizzle all and then consume, enjoy your flavourless meal).

Ok now you have a nice smooth sauce (right?) chuck some cheese in! (Using a grater or a knife to put small chunks in at once is reccomended) Stir. Or watch it bubble, that can be fun. Then stir.

Now throw the bacon and onion into the sauce, maybe some pepper and salt even some mixed herbs if you feel fancy. You should have been boiling the pasta by the way this whole time... Ok go back in time and put that on the boil before starting.

Now your pasta is done mix it all together (drain the pasta first you nitwit!) and put in a baking dish and sprinkle more cheese on top. You could eat straight out of the pan of course (you animal you).

Add some breadcrumbs to the top if you have some. Now put it in the oven until the cheese is melted! Remember to get a responsible adult to help you because the oven is hot! (If a responsible one can't be found just do it yourself, when you sober up, and try not to muck it up and end up in the emergency room)

You should end up with something like this...

You'll need to eat half to get close to the picture above.
